Ongoing Research Projects

Shingles Pain Treatment

Dr. Kochan has already presented his findings with respect to the efficacy of treatment of shingles pain at several conferences but is interested in seeing more people with this problem.  Very soon he will be recruiting patients for a blinded placebo controlled trial.

Bee Venom & Arthritis

Bee venom therapy has been used for thousands of years for arthritis of different types.  Dr. Kochan is colaborating with Dr. Boris Ratiner a rheumatologist in Tarzana to study the effect of bee venom on patients with osteoarthritis of the knee.  He  is looking for patients who have mild to moderate arthritis and have taken anti-inflammatory medication for whom the medicine did not work or for whom the anti-inflammatory medication caused unacceptible side effects.

Hay Fever

Hay fever and pollen allergy season is fast approaching and in southern California can last all year.  There is some evidence that by taking slowly increasing amounts of bee pollen orally people can be desensitized to the pollen in the area and their symptoms can be relieved.  Dr.  Kochan and his assistant Ray Seiple, M.A. are looking for people who are interested in getting relief from their pollen allergies using this simple and safe treatment and are willing to be part of the study to look at this issue.
